During the past few weeks I have become increasingly disappointed with the performance of the tricon server support. Tricon is used to limit what average players in the game can do, such as what they can or cannot vote on, etc. Suffice it to say, the tricon was having issues with either the mod (never did in the past) or with the new tribes next (most likely the case). Since these issues are seemingly insurmountable, I have removed the tricon admin functions and returned the original admin functions that came equipped with the mod. Even though the original admin functions are a lot more fun (turn your friends into a tree) there are numerous issues (not insurmountable) that i had to deal with. I have removed all but the basic voting privs for common players without removing the SA privs. This involved almost a complete rewrite of the admin code, but worth it as far as I am concerned. Average players can now choose from these 3 options while in the server.
1. Change your team-if by doing so the teams remain fair. 2. Become Observer 3. Vote New Mission - only CTF missions are available for voting. The SA (super admins) now have complete control over the changeable items, however I caution those of you who have SA, what ever you decide to change, make sure you change back before you leave. Example, the server is set up for a 45 minute map, if you change the time to unlimited time, the server will sit on that mission untill it is capped out, then the next mission will also be unlimited untill capped out. I know that most of the admin functions work, the only function that I know doesn't work at this time is the ban function. Banning has been disabled because it is incompatible with the tribes next logging system. If there becomes a need for a player to be banned, there is a manual means of doing this. email me the person you want banned, and I will retreive his/her guid from the connect log and add it to the banned list. I have not completed testing all of the Admin tools, and would like to get input from the SA's. I did find and correct one little problem. There was an oversight on the Large Curse. When a player is cursed, part of the curse is that the player loses the ability to use his keyboard. This is so the player cant sit there as a tree and whine on and on about how unfair the SA is being. The oversight was that once the curse was lifted, the player still had no keyboard control....lol...but i think this has been corrected. I fixed the code so it should work, but havent had time to check it out yet. |

RECENT CHANGES TO THE LivingDeadGirl
I have developed, and am currently testing code that will drop 1 bot each time a player enters the game. The server starts with 10 bots, 5 per team. The as a player joins, 1 bot from his team leaves gameplay, yeilding more even teams. As more humans enter the game, more bots will drop, until you reach the magic number of 10 players, at which time there should be 0 bots. Once the player count drops below 10, bots will rejoin the game to fill in the missing minimum number of players. Like I said, we are still testing this, however, this will certainly reduce the number of datablocks needed, and ease stress on the server as each new player joins. Back in the day, before we had such insanely fast connection speeds, there was an actual formula for how many bots and players a server could run without going boom. I don't see that as much of a problem nowadays, but it is nice to be able to reduce the strain on the server as more and more people enter the game. The MitziBlastCannon has been fitted with a new improved "Tactical Nuke" mode. I have reduced the charge rate for the capacitors, was 1 per 3/4 of a sec now 1 per sec. In addition, I have removed the capacitors from bot corpses. Hopefully this will reduce nuke spams, as you can no longer teamkill bots for their charges, and it takes over 7 minutes of staying alive to charge a tactical nuke. The new Tactical nuke has less radius damage than the small nuke used by nuke cannon. Wiley C and I have tested the little beasty and found that 2 Large Barrer Walls is sufficient sheilding to survive a Tacticle Nuke blast. Also, If you spread your defenses out a bit, there is a much better chance for many assets to survive, thus less rebuilding after a Tactical nuke. I have amped up the effects of EMP so that the blast actually affects the mobility of whatever armor it connects to. If you are wearing a super energy pack such as the ionic reactor you will not be noticeably affected, however if you are wearing a weapons pack or ammo pack, etc, you will most likely either be limping thru the air or fall like a stone to the ground when hit by EMP. The healthkit will immediately correct this, but then you've used your healthkit now haven't you, don't get hit again? We have received some complaints about the healthkits giving a fast and full repair of damages. Since i like the fact that they will fully repair, I decided a compromise was in order. The basis of the complaint was that it could change the course of a battle, because it could heal so fast, the enemy might have been able to kill you at regular healing speed before you had completed healing. So it now heals a little slower, to give those slower firing weapons a chance to frag you, but if nobody hits you during the process, it WILL heal you completely. Except in really heavy armors like the Mech Assault, Mech Derm, or Jugger Assault. In those you dont get much from a healthkit unfortunately. |
